Frank's Story

Frank DeBenedetto was born on March 11, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a member of the NYPD—and he made that dream come true. He loved his job and often said, “Love your job and never work a day in your life.”

Frank shared a beautiful life with his wife, Marie. Married for over 30 years, they traveled the world together and made every moment count. He was a proud father to his daughter Gina, and a devoted brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He had a big personality and a bigger heart. Frank loved 80s rock, quoting his favorite TV shows and movies like Seinfeld and Jaws, and cheering on the New York Mets, Rangers, and Giants. Frank enjoyed eating delicious meals at great restaurants, especially when shared with family or friends.

In 2009, Frank was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine cancer, believed to have been caused by his work at Ground Zero following 9/11. He battled the illness bravely for over 13 years, never losing his strength, humor, or zest for life. Golf became his escape, his passion, and his peace—he’d often say, “As long as I can golf, I’m good.”

Frank passed away on November 11, 2024, but his spirit lives on.

To honor his life and legacy, we created the Frank DeBenedetto Memorial Golf Outing—an annual event to raise funds for Neuroendocrine cancer research and celebrate Frank through the game he loved most.
